Aboriginal Studies 10/20, 30
5 credits
This stream of courses is intended to provide a conceptual framework for all learners to enhance understanding of the diverse Aboriginal cultures within their region, Canada and the world.
Students will have the opportunity to earn 6 credits as they complete Aboriginal Studies 10/20 in a single semester.
Upon successful completion of Aboriginal Studies 10/20, students may enroll in Aboriginal Studies 30.
Aboriginal Studies 30 may also be used as a prerequisite for post-secondary studies.

These 3-credit courses explore beyond the textbook through hands-on interactive experiences!
Learn how to grow plants using a variety of strategies including traditional gardening with soil and hydroponics.
Propagation of flowering plants, vegetables, micro greens and the construction of systems needed to support sustainable growth will all be touched on.
Students are encouraged to explore a variety of individual and group projects based on interest.

Curious about business and finances?
This course provides opportunities to become financially literate in today's world. Students will sharpen their entrepreneurial skills, manage and balance cash flow, and learn to build investment portfolios.
When you join PKSU you can chose to volunteer, or earn leadership credits through the participation of a variety of fantastic school opportunities and activities throughout the year.
Your commitment to service and leadership will also enhance your opportunities for scholarships.

Interested in the field of Law?
Learn about occupations related to the law and how law impacts our daily lives.
Public, Private, Criminal and Indigenous Law are all explored.

Focus is on ancient life and dinosaurs, earth history, evolution and geology with a field study at the Royal Tyrrell Museum.
Science 10 is the prerequisite or may be taken concurrently with this course.

Question everything, learn how to argue logically, expand your wisdom and become more open-minded.

Explore human development, personality, learning, perception, thinking, emotions and personality disturbances.

Explore human behavior and the science of psychology. You will earn three credits in General Psychology 20 and three credits in Experimental Psychology 30. Students write the Psychology AP exam in May.
The prerequisite course is either Personal Psychology or Biology 30.

Films are marvelous forms of literature.
Through viewing film clips, documentary films, classic movies, foreign films and feature length movies, this course allows you to study the art and literature of film.
6 credits
In Wildlife 10/20, students earn 6 credits by learning outdoor skills, exploring local trail systems and studying natural areas of Alberta.
The Indigenous concept of wâhkôhtowin, our interconnected relationship with nature and the land, is integrated into the teachings of the course.
Students also receive accreditation in First Aid/CPR with AED and can earn an additional credit by participating in a wilderness excursion in the spring linking theory to practice.
