St. Albert Transit - RIDE FREE

Just a reminder St. Albert Transit is now free for Teens (13-17) within St. Albert. The Students Ride Free Program only applies to local service routes, school-aged youth (13-17), can ride St. Albert Transit for free – seven days a week. It does not include commuter travel into and out of Edmonton.

Effective January 1, 2021, St. Albert youth will no longer require a ticket to board St. Albert Transit for local travel. However, proof of age (such as a valid student ID or graduated driver’s licence) may be required if asked.

Grad portraits have been scheduled for February 15-26, 2021 and it is time for you to reserve your appointment. The booking will happen online so please make sure to reserve your spot as soon as possible.

NOTE: Icon is not able to provide caps for the portraits due to COVID restrictions. The school will be providing the caps for the grad pictures. If you have a sibling that graduated from PK and a cap is available, please bring one with you

Schulich Leader Scholarships

Schulich Leader Scholarships are Canada’s most coveted undergraduate STEM scholarships.

Up to one hundred are awarded to entrepreneurial-minded high school graduates enrolling in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math program at 20 partner universities across Canada. Half are valued at $100,000 for engineering scholarships and half are valued at $80,000* for science and math scholarships.

Register for AUArts' Online Winter Portfolio Review Day here!

Nervous about submitting a portfolio to AUArts? Looking for advice on how to further your artistic technical and conceptual skills? Portfolio Review Day is a great opportunity to have your work reviewed and to get some one-on-one time with our faculty. All of AUArts’ professors and faculty members are currently practicing professionals in their specialized areas. During your timeslot you will learn how portfolios are evaluated and get some helpful tips on how to make your portfolio standout.

Outstanding portfolios have the opportunity to be waived as part of the application process for anyone applying to First Year Studies. It is recommended to have prepared a maximum of 12 pieces for your review and have your academic transcript on hand to be reviewed by an Admission and Recruitment Officer. Portfolio reviews will be hosted online through Microsoft Teams - access to internet and a smart device/laptop/desktop is required to participate.

WHEN: Saturday, January 23rd from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. MST  Sessions will be 20 minutes long.

Free Post Secondary Courses

Interested in starting or exploring postsecondary? Want to try a FREE course and see if it is for you? Portage College is offering a FREE course or two to students that have successfully completed English 20-1 and are currently enrolled in or successfully completed English 30-1. Courses start on-line in January and are again offered in April.

Registration is encouraged for all Grade 11 and 12 students that meet the criteria and want to pursue some FREE post-secondary on-line courses starting in January.

University of Alberta - medicine

Want to learn more about a career in medicine? Two medical students from the University of Alberta medical school will introduce you to the path to medical school, what medical training looks like, and careers as a physician.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday February 3rd from 12:00 - 1:00pm online.

Dual Credit
