More About Me
An AP Graduate at Paul Kane High School, Michael C. Ng is pleased to return the tradition of academic excellence and achievement and the community involvement at PK.  Michael was a research laboratory assistant for the Department of Experimental Oncology at the Cross Cancer Institute during university where he performed advanced image analysis, 3-D reconstructions, and the production of composite images from multi-channel data of cancer cell slides on Silicon Graphics computers.  Michael later worked for the Department of Science at Norquest College and learned about the needed importance of becoming a teacher and the quest for understanding of how each student learns best.

Michael spends much of his time in humanitarian and volunteering involvements.  For many years, Michael volunteered at the Odyssium (formerly known as the Edmonton Space & Science Centre).  Currently, Michael is an active member with the Edmonton Art Gallery and the Circle K Kiwanis International Volunteer Club (University of Alberta Chapter), and the fundraising activities at the Boyle McCauley Health Centre and the Bissell Centre.

Michael is highly known for his achievements as an accomplished artist in mediums of watercolor and oils.  He has received many art awards, most notably the National Art Award presented by the Royal Canadian Legion, which also earned him the opportunity to represent the Youth of Canada at the Remembrance Day Ceremonies in Ottawa by laying a wreath at the cenotaph with former Governor General Romeo Leblanc and former Prime Minister Jean Chretien.  Many of his paintings have been displayed in articles and galleries throughout Canada including the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa.  An avid art student and collector, Michael recently had humble meetings and individual guidance with well-known international artists - Robert Batemen, Carl Brenders, and Pino.

Michael is also an accomplished pianist.  Since the age of 5, Michael worked with many well-known pianists and composers at the Alberta College of Music, Edmonton, Alberta.  After completing the Royal Conservatory of Music Program with Distinction with Honours, for many years he competed in the Kiwanis' Royal Music Festival.  He has performed in many concerts playing concertos from Beethoven to Mozart, to the pieces of Rachmaninoff and Liszt, to the difficult Etudes by Chopin.  Today, Michael continues to play piano at many festivities and fundraising activities.

Michael is proud to be at Paul Kane and strives to succeed with excellence.  This dedicated, resourceful, and innovative Chemistry instructor will use his Chemistry background to motivate students of how the world of science can be an enjoyable part of daily life.  Demonstrating "Science Magic" with the concept that "Science is Fun".  He is personable, driven, and honest.
