Nine actions all parents can take to help their children be successful in school.
  1. Make sure your child, whenever possible, is in class every day - and on time every day.

  2. Be aware that you play a big role in the attitudes your child brings to the classroom.

  3. Urge your child to listen and emphasize that learning to take directions pays off.

  4. Stress organization and tidiness.

  5. Remind your child that "anyone can lead a horse to water, but he or she can't force it to drink."

  6. Urge your child not to waste time and energy denying or rationalizing mistakes.

  7. To be successful in school, students must be able to work with others.

  8. Remind your child to treat others as they would like to be treated.

  9. Encourage your child to 'think', expect your child to 'think'.
