ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS

This is our English department!

The Paul Kane English Language Arts department offers expertise from a wide variety of backgrounds and a real willingness to experiment with new techniques and new literature.  We bring a wealth of innovation and/or experience to our students what with some of us having taught English Language Arts for over 20 years and some of us having just graduated from university bringing the latest learning trends to the fore.

We are ardent believers in building, maintaining, and celebrating a professional learning community where teachers build and share together, working towards what works best with kids.  We want all our students not just to excel but feel that they've learned something about life for the rest of their lives.

Our aim is to build better readers and writers who will know what the important questions really are.

As James Baldwin said, "The purpose of art is to lay bare the questions which have been hidden by the answers."

We believe that English Language is like any language, an art.
