Athletics

The Paul Kane BLUES have a strong and successful tradition in the area of interschool athletics.  An array of league, zone and provincial championship banners hang in our gym to remind current students of the legacy passed on by former BLUES athletes.

Our school competes in the Metro Edmonton High School Athletic Association against teams from two St. Albert School Districts, Edmonton Catholic Schools, Leduc, Strathcona, and Sturgeon.  The Metro Association abides by the regulations of and competes provincially through the Alberta School Athletic Association.

Places on the various school teams are awarded on a competitive basis and team tryouts are well advertised to all interested students.  Due to increasing cost of interschool athletics, a team member's fee is accessed to all athletes on the team.  Fees vary with each sport and will be outlined by the coaches.  Please note that team members must also be members of the Students' Union.

"To be a Skyhawk Football player is not a simple thing. It means you are held to a higher standard than the average student [...] Playing football for this program is not easy - if it was easy, everyone would do it. To be a part of this program you must:

  • Always do your best in the classroom
  • Always act appropriately outside of the classroom
  • Treat yourself, your family, your school, and the program with the respect that they all deserve.

Our motto is: Produce the best person, student, and athlete that we possibly can."

- Skyhawk Football Head Coach, Sam Johnson sjohnson@gsacrd.ab.ca.
